The metropolis on the southeast shoreline and the heart of the state. Skyscrapers, art deco, beach and the highest crowd density in the game — the packed nightclub scene in the Extended Look came from here. It's where Jason and Lucia's story is centred.
The swamps and mangroves covering southwest Leonida. Rivers, channels and isolated communities, with dangerous wildlife and boat crossings. This is the region that replaces the empty rural filler of previous games with something Rockstar promises is packed with things to find.
The tropical archipelago to the south, linked by bridges and sea routes. It's where Jason comes from, having spent time working for local drug runners. Diving and jet skis both appeared in the Extended Look.
The former west coast tourist town, now sustained by cheap motels, shuttered attractions, docks and truck stops. Rockstar portrays it without romance. It has its own police force, hinting at multiple jurisdictions across the state.
The industrial town on the shores of Lake Leonida, the large body of water at the centre of the map. Its economy revolves around the Allied Crystal sugar refinery, and the region is biker gang territory.
The national park to the north, with real terrain, dense forest and wildlife. It's the closest Leonida gets to Red Dead 2's Ambarino: remote, scenic and built for off-road exploration.
Vice City's international airport, north of the city. It's reported to be one of the fast-travel points between regions of the state.
The working port that sustains Port Gellhorn: stacked containers, cranes running around the clock and active rail lines. Rockstar shows the contrast between legitimate commerce and whatever takes advantage of the blind spots.
The sugar refinery that dominates Ambrosia's skyline. In Rockstar's own words, it provides the jobs — and the local biker gang provides almost everything else.
The national park running along the state's northern border, with dense forest, canyons and rivers. Trails, rough terrain and dirt-road escapes.
The strip of sand separated from the mainland by a bay, pure Miami Beach: art deco, boardwalk and the nightlife seen in the Extended Look.
The apartment where Jason and Lucia begin the story, out in the southern islands. It's where the pair set off from into the rest of the state.
The flooded heart of the Grassrivers, where airboats arrive as a vehicle class built for shallow water. Gators and dangerous wildlife off the main road.
